Introduction to Ancient Art (Theory) |
The students will - CO21: Evaluate varied art periods and Cave Art of India, France and Spain to apply it in own art work to enhance in all respect. CO22: Interpret the significance of cultural and historical context in informing the interpretation of art works. CO23: Get the knowledge of the contribution of artists in turning and developing society and politics in India,Spain,France and Egypt. CO24: Analyze the formal, technical,compositional characteristics of artworks to assess the qualities of works of art. |
Approach in teaching: Interactive Lectures, Discussion, Tutorials, Reading assignments.
Learning activities for the students: Self-learning assignments, Effective questions, presentation, Giving tasks. |
Semester end examinations, Continuous Assessment Test, Quiz, Solving problems in tutorials, Assignments, Presentation, Individual and group projects, regular submission. |

The Indus Valley Civilization- Mohenjodaro and Harappa (Town planning, sculptures and seals)
Introduction to the Prehistoric art of Europe- Caves of France: Lascaux, Trois Freres, Font da Gaume, Tuc-da-Audoubert
Introduction to the Prehistoric art of Europe- Cave of Spain: Altamira, La Pileta, El Castillo, La Pasiega, Tito Bustillo
Egyptian Art: Introduction (Old, Middle and New Kingdom)
Relief- Hierakonpolis, Pallate of king Narmer
Pyramids of Giza, Great Sphinx, Portraitures
